The 5C model, also known as the customer satisfaction Model, is a framework designed to prioritize and analyze features based on customer satisfaction. It categorizes features into five groups: Basic Needs, Performance Needs, Excitement Needs, Indifferent Needs, and Reverse Needs. Each group represents a different level of impact on customer satisfaction.
Basic Needs include essential features that customers expect as standard, such as reliability, functionality, usability, performance, and safety. Performance Needs focus on additional features that directly correlate with satisfaction, like enhanced features, quality improvement, and customization options. Excitement Needs are unexpected delights that significantly elevate satisfaction, such as novelty, surprises, and personalized experiences. Indifferent Needs are features that do not significantly impact satisfaction, like standard packaging and primary user interface. Reverse Needs are features that, if present, make customers unhappy, but their absence doesn't bother them.
